Pastor Jay Serafin was installed as the new pastor at Apostles Lutheran Church in Gloucester on Sunday, September 24. Pastor Jay was installed by Pastor Joel Neubauer, Conference Dean and pastor at St. Mark, Yorktown. In the picture you can see a new green stole that was presented to Pastor Jay by the congregation. The stole was made by Norma Fredrickson and depicts the parable of the sower.
Thank you to everyone who helped in any way to make the Installation Worship Service and Reception go so well. I know so many of you spent a great deal of time and effort planning, preparing, taking part in and cleaning up after the event, and I am deeply grateful for your efforts. I couldn’t have asked for a better day. It was wonderful and memorable for me and for Jamie. From the puppies on the front of the bulletin cover to the Gerber daisies to Pastor Joel’s sermon and participation to the amazing reception, everything was special. We could not thank all of you enough. Also, thank you to the congregation for the new stole. The symbols certainly tell a story, one where my story and the congregation’s story combine. It will be cherished.
With our deepest gratitude,
Pastor Jay and Jamie
Thank you for welcoming me with open arms and kind hearts. I can feel how caring you all are and helped me to be comfortable. I appreciate the visit from the Caring Community Team. Janet and Sue your smiles and warm energy made my day when you came to our home. What a great idea having a mentor. Irene is so helpful answering my questions and offering support. I look forward to getting to know all of you better and exploring this journey together as we walk with Christ.
