Hello everyone, it’s Spring again, and our yards are in full bloom. We can look forward to warmer weather, outdoor activities, and another legitimate reason to wear a mask, pollination! Our Synod Office has offered up a few opportunities to embrace this Spring Awakening. Registration is open for the 2021 Youth Assembly (for grades 7-12) which will be held in the late afternoon of June 12th. If you would like to learn more, then feel free to visit https://www.vasynod.org/event/youthassembly/.
Last May, we Pastors were preparing to re-open our buildings for public use. That same month, we were told to wait a bit longer as COVID-19 raged on without the promise of a vaccine. This left many of us wondering a series of important questions. How do we build on what we have learned over the last 13 months? How have
attitudes and opinions about faith and life changed during the pandemic? How do we use digital tools to strengthen overall ministry? Fortunately, the Virginia Synod has invited us rostered leaders into a series of conversations on Zoom designed to help our congregations start a new chapter of ministry in a digital world.
At this point, you’re probably thinking that all of this Online biz is giving me a headache! When are we getting back to normal? Well, I don’t know. I do know that the Safety and Worship Taskforce will have met by the time you are reading this newsletter. We are diligently brainstorming ideas that will hopefully prepare our community for both inperson and online gatherings that may become reality at some point this year. We will have also participated in a shared outdoor opportunity with Abington Episcopal Church know as the Amazing Grace Race. We are creative people creating a new path for the Church of tomorrow. God’s bold love has instilled in us the capacity to be kind neighbors, patient parents, and better friends. The dreams we share today can become the shared realities in the future.
In the meantime, I am resuming Pastoral Care at the Pink House. Please call me in advance at (678)524-4919 if you would like to meet on my side porch. I’ll have the kettle on and the good tea cups waiting for you!
